Attempted humorous hook to get people to read an auto related article about the dangers of driving drunk. Obviously has gotten mixed reviews.

Aaron Westerfield is in the Marion County Jail on nine charges, including desecration of honored places, injury to cemetery property, his second DUI, and resisting arrest.

The pun , also called paronomasia , is a form of word play that suggests two or more meanings, by exploiting multiple meanings of words, or of similar-sounding words, for an intended humorous or rhetorical effect.

A small two-seater Cessna 152 plane crashed into a cemetery early this afternoon.

Search and rescue workers have found two survivors and recovered 300 bodies so far and expect that number to climb as digging continues into the evening.

But it's not a pun... because of the word wake . Unless the drunk driver was driving a boat, or was attending a remembrance, the implication of your headline is that they died after, or as a result of, the drunk driving incident.

Also, when you take an entire article and copy and paste it, you should have something more to your post than just basically unsourced plagiarism. Provide context, sourcing, etc... give it your personal spin.

Thank you, I have a dictionary and the internet. I don't think you read my comment.

"...the implication of your headline is that they died after , or as a result of, the drunk driving incident." Because wake, by it's very definition, implies something which resulted following a cause.

A few random related thoughts:
1. Cemeteries are dumb and a waste of space.

2. My friend always laughs at this idea, but I'm convinced that it'd be awesome...
Cemetery rallying. C'mon - their open single lane, windy roads are begging to be rallied. Obviously this doesn't go for all cemeteries like the crappy dinky ones, but rather the stupidly extravagant and obnoxiously large ones. Often accompanied by varying terrain (hillclimb anyone?) and nice scenery like lakes and ponds and trees... perfect public rally course. Plus it'd make them slightly less of a waste of space.
(yes I'm serious, no I have never driven through a cemetery... yet)

So you're accusing me of plagiarism, clearly states MONTEAGLE, TN (WRCB).

AND calling me a dick and shit starter? Take a look in the mirror friend.

If you don't get it, that's not my fault.

Yes, I did, because a lead with the originating news source is hardly a "source". And when you respond to criticism by quoting the dictionary, when the dictionary doesn't support your position and usage, you come off as acting a bit of an antagonist.

Many humorous articles provide fake news sources at the start of an article. This is why using the "(XXXX)" news source is not the preferred method to show your source. Just ending the post with an "originally reported by..." or a more complete source would be the method I would suggest at a minimum.

And by the way, it wasn't funny because of the misuse of the language. The intent was clear, but the execution was not there.
